"Life Artist" by Ali Edwards

Have you seen the new book by Ali Edwards? It's called "LIFE ARTIST". I am a very big fan of Ali and have all of her other books. One of the other books I find most useful is the "A Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking with Patterned Papers". I only used solid papers and was afraid to use patterned ones. I admit I bought them, but didn't know what to do with them.

Then I read that she was coming out with a NEW book! It is called "Life Artist". I pre-ordered the book so that I didn't have to wait to find it in the stores! When I received it, I just looked at the pictures. This is something I usually do ... look at the pictures, and THEN read sometime later.

I was so captivated by her idea of being a LIFE ARTIST. Ali says that "scrapbooker" just doesn't describe what she (and most of us) do. I totally agree. I don't know about you, but I don't just make scrapbooks, I create all sorts of other home decor and gifts which incorporate photos, children's artwork and more.

This book is published by Creating Keepsakes, same as her other books. The pages are VERY thick paper. It's like a treat to look through this book. To give you some idea of what it's all about, CK has this information on their website:

"Follow along with Ali as she teaches you how to scrapbook your life moments and share your stories in a way that’s real, authentic and a true reflection of your personality. This book is a must-have for anyone who wants to take their scrapbooking to the next level!
Features include:
- Hundreds of new ideas to incorporate into your scrapbooking lifestyle
- Ali’s guiding philosophies behind becoming a life artist
- A variety of unique projects, including layouts, mini-albums, home décor and more"

But there is SO MUCH MORE in this book that makes it a must have. If you call yourself a "scrapbooker" when someone asks what you do, what hobby you enjoy, then this book is for you.

I also love to read Ali's Blog. It's not just about scrapbooking, but capturing those life moments.

We are loving Queen & Company's new FELT FUSION ribbon borders!

When Queen & Company came out with the felt ribbon borders early this year, we were very excited. They are very versatile. I know some may have thought that you need to use it like regular "ribbon", but it can be cut into pieces, used as corner accents and so much more.

Then we heard about the all NEW Queen & Company FELT FUSION line of embellishments and we were even more excited! These are now 1.6" wide or 2.7" wide, instead of the previous 3" wide felt borders. But, what we're SO EXCITED about is that they are now SELF ADHESIVE! Yes, they have a peel off backing! Now you don't have to run the felt through your Xyron sticker maker to get it to adhere quickly and easily.

There are some great projects on Queen & Company's Blog  that show a variety of ways to use the felt fusion ribbon borders.

We just received our shipment of FELT FUSION and we're going to start making some projects using these self-adhesive felt designs ... and I say DESIGNS, because Queen & Company has come out with patterns / designs other than flowers! The new designs are snowflakes, scroll, flowers, holiday jingle bells, leaves and more.

Felt is one of those materials that you probably worked with when you were a kid. It's fun, you can sew it, cut it, and it has a great texture. I think that's why we love the new Queen & Company FELT FUSION so much. Pick some up, try it today. Maybe you'll feel like a kid again!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October -- a busy month for most of us. But also a time to take a minute for yourself, for your girlfriends, daughters, sisters & mothers ... and remind them about the importance of getting regular mammograms. You see, this issue is very close to me: my grandmother passed away from breast cancer before my older daughter was born. She never got to see her first great-grandchild.

Before all the holiday festivities and shopping sprees start, think about all the women you love. And give them the best present of all ... a reminder to get tested. And if someone can't afford a mammogram, helping them pay for one would be a wonderful gift.

We're also celebrating WORLD CARD MAKING DAY this Saturday, October 6th. Wouldn't it be great to start making your holiday cards, AND spend some time making some "love you" cards for your mom, sister, friend & other important women in your life? We think it's worth it!
