I had some fun scrapping tonight! Over at Let's Scrap, they had an on-line live chat / challenge. It was a game of "Simon Says" ... "Simon" gave us an initial list of items to have on hand, then gave directions for each step, and about 5 mins to complete that step.
First step was: paint a border around the background piece of your layout. Then we had to take 3 pieces of pattern paper, cut into strips, and adhere to our page. Add any way you want ... and you don't know what the next instruction will be!
It was fun because you could not see the other participants and what they were making, so you didn't change yours because you thought it might be "wrong".
Then we had to paint (using same color) around the edge of our photo(s). Then adhere the photos to the background page. We needed 3 tags of some sort, and were supposed to add these as some "mat" to the photo(s) but one needed to be large enough to journal something.
Add the 2 ribbons. I cut mine in an arrow shape at the ends and they are pointing to the larger photo. Remember, you don't know what the next step is going to be...
Then once we had it mostly complete, "Simon" gave us some time to add title and journal and then upload to the gallery.
I'm glad I chose fun photos because this technique really works with these photos. I think this is a really fun page, and although I made it, it reflects my daughter's personality.
Here's another shot - closeup:
Something I might try at one of our weekend retreats once I am able to travel!
Since I'm on the Design Team at Let's Scrap, there will be more fun stuff coming!!

What a great outfit because of the color choices you could use for the layout!
